The Sophie B Story
Sophie B started in a Brooklyn apartment with a simple frustration: why did finding comfortable, beautiful underwear feel like choosing between two different lives? You know the dilemma — the pretty pieces that dig in by lunch, or the comfy ones you’d rather not be caught wearing. We figured there had to be a better way, so we started making our own.
What began as a few hand-sewn prototypes for friends quickly turned into something bigger. Turns out, we weren’t the only ones tired of underwire that pokes, elastic that rolls, and “nude” that only comes in one shade. Sophie B designs for real bodies doing real things — from morning coffee runs to late-night deadlines, first dates to lazy Sundays. Every piece is tested on actual humans (not just fit models), because comfort isn’t a standard size.
We’re still that small team obsessed with getting the details right. The French seams that won’t irritate sensitive skin. The wider bands that actually stay put. The colors that make you smile when you open your drawer. Because your underwear is the first thing you put on and the last thing you take off — it should feel like it’s on your side all day long.

“Ordered the silk sleep set in blush and now I feel like I’m living in a French film every night. The fabric is buttery soft and the cut is so flattering I’ve definitely worn the cami out with jeans.”

FAQs
How should a properly fitted piece feel?
How should a properly fitted piece feel?
A well-fitted garment should sit comfortably against the body without digging in or sliding around. The band should feel snug but not restrictive, straps should stay in place without constant adjustment, and fabric should lie smooth without gaps or bulging. If red marks persist after removal or if breathing feels restricted, the fit needs adjustment.
What’s the best way to determine the right size?
What’s the best way to determine the right size?
Taking accurate measurements at home provides the most reliable sizing information. Measure around the fullest part of the bust and directly under the bust for band size. These measurements, combined with the provided size chart, help identify the best starting point. Keep in mind that sizing can vary between styles and materials.
How often should intimate apparel be replaced?
How often should intimate apparel be replaced?
Most pieces maintain their shape and support for 6-12 months with regular wear and proper care. Signs it’s time for replacement include stretched bands, loose elastic, fabric pilling, underwire poking through, or straps that won’t stay adjusted. Rotating between multiple pieces extends the life of each item.
What’s the recommended care method?
What’s the recommended care method?
Hand washing in cool water with gentle detergent preserves elasticity and shape best. If machine washing is necessary, use a mesh bag on delicate cycle with similar colors. Always air dry away from direct heat or sunlight. Avoid fabric softeners, which break down elastic fibers over time.
Is it normal for sizing to vary between different styles?
Is it normal for sizing to vary between different styles?
Yes, different cuts and materials often fit differently even in the same labeled size. A balconette style might fit differently than a full-coverage option, and stretch lace behaves differently than cotton blends. Reading individual product descriptions and reviews helps anticipate these variations.
What should someone do if between sizes?
What should someone do if between sizes?
When measurements fall between two sizes, consider the fabric composition and intended fit. Styles with more stretch or adjustable features offer flexibility, while structured pieces benefit from selecting the larger size for comfort. The return policy allows for exchanges if the first choice doesn’t work out perfectly.
